Welcome!

I am postdoctoral researcher at the Wyss Academy for Nature in Bern (Switzerland). I am broadly interested in the relationship between globalization and domestic politics, and how it shapes economic policy choices and political outcomes. I specifically focus on foreign direct investment (FDI) and foreign aid projects as two aspects of globalization. I investigate under what conditions politicians abuse the presence of FDI and foreign aid projects to pursue policies that benefit themselves (e.g., corruption and misuse of taxpayer dollars) and under what conditions, citizens will reward (or punish) politicians for their politicians’ efforts to attract these projects. My other research interests involve international institutions, international trade, global environmental politics. My work is forthcoming or has appeared in Business & Politics and International Interactions.

I completed my Ph.D. at Emory University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Masters of Arts in International Affairs & Governance from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and a Master in Global Economy and Management from Yonsei University (South Korea).
